Thats not exactly the case. The issue is not only of aspect ratio but of resolution as well. Most 16:9 displays have the same 3840x2160 resolution. You don't get more pixels by going for a larger monitor. A 16:10 4K would have 3840x2400, so more than 10% extra vertical space for actual content.
